Default Problem with 96 accord... cv joint???

I have a 96 accord ex with the f22b1 and whenever i take a sharp turn there is a loud knocking noise (not the engine or tranny) I haven't really checked under my car yet... i immediately just figured a axle was going bad but im beginning to have a second thought.... what could this be?

It's most likely the CV. See if your CV boot is broken or torn off. That's what happen to my 96 Accord. Not really a knocking for me though, more like a pop. Change it soon!

If it's a quickly ratcheting/clicking type of noise during a steady state turn in one or both directions, it's likely a bad outer CV joint. Check the CV boots; one of them is likely torn and has slung all of the grease out of the joint. In this case, replace the axle. Occasionally, CV joints will also fail with the boot still intact.

You must remove caliper, then loosen lower ball joint from control arm. If it is passenger side you must drain tranny fluid before removing axle.

I'm sure I missed small details, the above posted are your key objectives.

Yea. i got a 94 ex and i had a popping to. So i immediately thought it was the CV so i changed it. In the process of changing the CV i found my ABS sensor was un mounted insde the boot of the cv making a pop noise on top of the cv boot being ripped and clicking. I guess thats what u get when u guy junk from friends who think they know everything. As far as draining tranny fluid on pass side to change it i didnt have to do that. Just put a bucket under it as what was stated. It doesnt drip or leak alot out. And its really easy to change. good luck with it.
