Default 02 civic intake on a dpfi

So I got this 90 ef hf and I dropped the motor in today. I went to test fit the upper strut tower and it hit that little canister that sits atop the dpfi throttle body. So I remember the newer civics drips down at a 90% like I would need for the hf. Anyone tried it? I know they make kits that you have to keep that canister but I need to remove for my strut bar. Thanks!

you say ef hf.. but do you mean hatch.. cause those were never hf's. crx's were made in an hf model however, and they were mpfi. sooo why would you be installing a dpfi engine into a car that had mpfi to start? i'm going to assume you are mistaken and in fact you have a dx or std ed hatch, and that's why you are using the dpfi intake mani.

Umm not sure what u mean but I have a 90 hatch, I was told that was a ef. Idk I think it's wired people calling there cars ef dc eg ek, etc... I know that's what they are in japan.. O whatever. Anyway my friend had this same motor in his crx as this motor I pulled from another hatch. But back to the question. Has anyone used a 02 civic intake on this, and I mean the pipe and filter, not the manufold.

Better yet, Leave that useless strut bar off and problem is solved. You more than likely have some piece of **** ebay piece that adjusts, right? In that case, it is garbage and serves no purpose. So leave it off and go about your day.

Wow why can't people just answer questions? Why post a response that has nothing to do with the topic? I don't need a intake manifold read the posts. My strut bar is a custom fabbed one I built for my del sol and pulled it for this car.

And the cheap ones actually do work, had one on my brothers accord and I felt the difference.

Straight answer. No. If the car is a 2002 it is an Si with the K20A3 motor. Not only is the mani on the front (like all K-series) The computer would never be able to manage it. You're better off just having the stock intake cleaned and swap throttle bodies with the newer intake (if you got it)

dude. its not why people cant answer your question. its why people cannot UNDERSTAND it!
i reread it literally like 5 times to understand what you were trying to say. well in those 2002 civic (d17) their engine have a different type of INTAKE MANIFOLD. their "canister" can be removed because its a different type. for our 88-91 civic/crx with the dual point intake manifold, you cannot. you simply cannot remove the "canister" (some people refer these like the carburetor).

answer is no. you cannot remove it and use a 2002 civic intake piping.

if it is your strut bar that is in the way of adding a intake normally then your strut bar is inferior.

All this BS over a strut bar??

Btw, no they don't work, a crappy aluminum piece that flexes defeats the purpose.

You can put on a d16a6 manifold on there but you'd have to convert to MPFI. There is your answer.

no that intake would not fit. as i already said, D17 intake manifold differs from the D15s dpfi.

if you want the correct intake, search d15.

if it wont fit because of your "custom" strut bar . remove it or get a different one.

btw, for people who cannot see the pics(link error so i ebay'd the item number)

What part? Do you know what a coupler is? It's the big urethane hose the connects the intake to the tb(throttle body). So I replaced the one that came with the si intake with one that would fit the dpfi tb. Better? How can I make it clear? Let me know where your confused.

i could see the d17 intake maybe working, but how you would get an ep3 intake to work is beyond me. either way, you should have put the money towards converting to mpfi. adding a cai to a dpfi setup is pointless

I'll post pics soon. I'm posting from my phone so kinda a pain doing the whole pics posting thing. The reason I went with the dpfi is that I want better mpg. I got a del sol vtec for fun, this is for work. I live 51 miles from work, so needless to say I want the most mpg for my buck.

this is a pic of my old 89 dx hatchback from about 6yrs ago. my question is why not run an aftermarket ebay intake like i did?

i am so glad i left this phase behind. because i went and actually did it the right way. mpfi obd1 D16Z6 conversion with an AEM short ram intake, i was still hittin 32-35mpg compared to my old 38-40mpg.

I'm confused on what u mean by "canister" do you know the technical name or have a picture of another car to identify it. Plenum maybe, charcoal canister, the lack of proper nomenclature is throwing people off.
