OEM Fog Switch > Aftermarket Lights
Recently I invested in some aftermarket fog lights and installed them in my car. The only catch is the generic on/off switch it came with doesn't fit with the instrument panel in any semi-attractive way.
The idea was to use the OEM fog switch that came with other trims of the 99 accord and install it on the cluster left of the wheel.
The only issue I now face is being the OEM switch is OEM, it's only designed for OEM connections and has five pins. The switch that came with the light set has three [Red/hot, White, Black/Ground].
Is there any way to make the OEM switch and my lights play nice together? I can't see it being that complicated but it's over my head since I'm asking here.
I can add pics if needed.

No matter what, the switch will have three pins that work for 12V constant, ground, and then a switched 12V that would go to (in your case) the fog lights. The other two pins on the switch are probably tied to the headlight wires, so that the fog lights only come on with the headlights on.
You can make it work, but it might take some trial and error. You need to find the pins for power first. This would allow an OEM switch to work like any regular ol' 2 wire switch. Then find the ground, which should allow the LED in the switch to come on whenever you turn your fogs on.
If you use the wrong pins, you may still get power to the fogs, but they might be on all the time, or the LED in the switch might be on all the time, etc. Find the pins for power first and make sure the fogs work like they should. Then find the ground pin, which would allow the LED to work correctly.
I've done it once before, but it was a long, long time ago. There's no chance I would remember which pins now...

Can you point me in the direction to a diagram, possibly? Is there an adapter for this type of setup? I was a picture of what looked like one one via google earlier today but there was no reference to where it can be found or what it was called.
Closest thing I could find for you was the install manual for the OEM foglights. Didn't look through it to see if it had EXACTLY what you were after, but it has to have SOMETHING.

Just click what model you have and it'll give you the instructions. Good luck and let us know what you find. I've been thinking about the same idea, as I'm not a huge fan of the OEM fogs. My problem has been finding a nicer looking alternative...

Unfortunately that set of instructions does not have any specifics on what pins of the switch control what. It sounds like I will be running some trial and error.
I think for next time, if my next accord doesn't have fog lights, I'm getting lights with the OEM harness. I'll let you know what I discovered in terms of what pins control what.

If in fact you do figure this out, you should do a write-up about it with pics. Might help alot of people out in the future. I like the idea of an OEM button. The switch for my fogs is like a round button and would look hidious...anywere

I didn't think that the manual would go into specifics about the pins, but I was hoping there might be something in there that would help.

You can look at the wiring diagrams to figure out which wires do what (on an OEM harness). Then, if you can find someone who has OEM fogs, ask them to pull the switch out to see what color wire connects to which pin.
That's pretty much what I did back when I did it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Use a multimeter first to see what's connected to what.
Example would be the light bulb is only on when pressed, so you should find 2 pins that are connected when pressed and disconnected when depressed.
Then the same would hold true for the actual lighting circuit.
not sure if the cars that came with fogs have a light in the cluster for the fogs or not but that would be my guess as to what the extra 2 pins are. sorry i cant be any more help. muffinman has the best solution.
There is a light in the OEM switch. Although mine has burned out.
I have figured it out exactly for everyone!! I will post pics tomorrow sometime!!
Yes there is a dash light stage and a ON/OFF stage where two different lights in the switch turn on. Ill explain and show exactly tomorrow.

Whoops and I didn't address the first question, no. The stock Accords that came with fogs were all accessories and have no indicators in the cluster for the fogs. The only indicator is the small light on the switch itself.

OK got it for everyone.
The (middle) red wire, and the first black wire on the LEFT side in pic below are the two + and - wires needed to hook up to the dash lights/headlights switch on the side of the steering wheel.. Then its just simple wiring from there to connect the remaining three wires (2 red 1 black) to the the FOGLIGHT wiring harness.. The first three prongs connect to the red wires. The far BOTTOM LEFT and far BOTTOM RIGHT prongs connect black wires.
As you can see the MIDDLE pic has the three wires connected to the switch to power the fogs and the power ON light. The BOTTOM pic has the two wires connecting the switch to the ON/OFF dash lights.

Nice jwice, you may however want to clarify as there are 3 red wires.
Do the Red (solid) with Yellow (stripe) and Red (solid) with Black (stripe)
Simply because the pictures are a little blurry. You could also number the wires and explain them that way.

Otherwise awesome job man!
Alright cool I will fix the image under paint and clarify wire description!!
