Window issues..Need help before the rain!!!
Hi all,
I'm new here. I figured this would be the best place to ask questions to get some helpful answers about my rex.
My issue is with my passenger side window. It seem's to be stuck. It doesn't crank up or down so it's just stuck halfway up at the moment. When I try to turn the crank it doesn't budge and I had a problem with the clips breaking before and my window falling into the door. A buddy of mine was nice enough to fix it for me the first time, unfortunately I didn't pay attention to what he was doing.
I called a window place here in my town but they guy isn't very reasonable and is a little shady. He said I could take my car down and he would take the panel off and see what the issue was and then charge me accordingly, but he is an old fart who loves to overcharge. My question(s) is: Would it be too hard for me to take the door panel off myself and fix the problem, whether it be broken clips or off track? Also if it were a clip, are those available for purchase at say a Kragens or Autozone? I don't want to get myself in over my head with this one..I would hate to take it all apart just to find out it's too much for me to handle & I don't to mess it up more then it already is.

if the crank handle is stuck and the window won't budge i would think that it is simply stuck in the track. if the gears were stripped out somehow, the handle would move but the window would not. check the front and rear of the window to see if it appears to be in the track. as far as whether this is something you can do yourself, it's hard to say. some people have more trouble with window issues then others. the problem is there is very little room to work within the door and it can be quite frustrating if you're not sure what you're doing.
Ah D16 I'm very relieved to see a response! Thank you for taking some time out to answer my question so quickly.
I'm sure I can manage taking the door panel off (I hope), if I do what would I be looking for in regards to it being stuck. Would the issue be obvious? I feel like such a retard asking so many questions but in these hard times I need to save every penny I can and if it's something I can at least attempt to do on my own then that's the route I'd like to take. Perhaps I should just take the panel off and take a looksy myself and if it seems to complicated take it down to the shop. I know a few women who are car savvy but I'm not one of them! lol. Any extra help or advice would be greaaaatly appreciated!!

removing to door pannel is not difficult. Have a look inside and check to see if you can find an issue with the glass being of track or caught. Under the door pannel will be some plastic as well. if you are carefull you can cut around the adhesive holding it on and reglue it back after finding the problem. The plastic is there as a water barrier for the interior of the car.
Update: Took my car to the window shop and he didn't even remove the door panel coming to the conclusion that it's my regulator. His estimate was $150 to fix it all. Does this sound reasonable??
i don't really have any other numbers to compare with so its hard to say whether that's good or bad. my gut says its about right, but i'm not sure what the going rate for somethin like that would be.
found this for ya though if you'd like to try it yourself
