99 EX 4 cyl Misfire - Hesitation at highway speeds
I have a 99 accord 4 cyl with 165000 miles.
A few months ago I hosed out the engine compartment thinking it was a good idea. Upon starting the engine would chug and miss on acceleration and then calm down and run fine. I figured that i got something wet that needed to just dry out. I continued to drive it at highway speeds for about a half an hour until it seemed to be back to normal.
Since then I occasionally get a slight hesitation when driving at around 2000 rpm. It seems more pronounced in damp/wet weather and can sometimes buck until it reaches higher rpm's and then it runs fine. Also, starting fom a dead stop as well as lower speed driving all appear fine.
I disconnected the EGR valve wire and drove it to see if a bad valve was the cause however the same condition exists. In fact there was no change in drivability with or without the EGR connected.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you,

I would try to clean the throttle body to see if that helps with the lag.

Try trouble shooting at electrical bits. Oh, and I understand you said the dealer did the cap and rotor etc.. well was that BEFORE you hosed your engine, because you may need to take out the wires, plugs, cap, etc. to check for any moisture in there now.
The service was done well before the engine was hosed. So nothing has been changed since. I plan on taking it by Autozone over the weekend to see what codes come up. The fact that it does this only at certain RPM's has me thinking it's something other than wet wires, etc.
