Icon2 turns over but wont start

I have a 99 SI with a b18b block and a b16 head. It was slowly starting to get harder and harder to start before it just wouldnt start. When i try and start it now it gets so close like the motor is just shaking the whole car around like its just right there but wont fire. I konw its getting a spark and gas cause ive checked to see if it sparks and it does and after I try starting it i can smell a **** ton of gas. also the oil level is higher than normal because I'm assuming that the gas just leaks down into the oil after sitting in the cylinder after a while?..i dont know thats just what im guessing. The point is that im not very smart with these kind of things all i know is how to drive it so if you guys could help me out by giving me some things to check or diagnose so i can pin point the problem that would be awesome. thanks

are you out of gas? fuel pump may be burnt out...check the fuse for the fuel pump. The gas definitely does not go into the oil....

"IF" the gas was getting into the oil, you would want to change it out before you get it running. Gas is not a lubricant, it will ruin your bearings and possibly your rods, then the block, so on and so forth. How did it run when it did? Like "turbotron" said, check the fuses, then check the fuel/spark again.

^ +1. Also take out your spark plugs and let the cylinders air out.
