94 Hatch ls swap confusion
Hey everyone, I just recently picked up a 94 dx hatch shell in really good shape. The guy threw in a motor, a b18a1. He said it was out of a 94 integra, but I thought that they only had the a1 in da's. Also, it's missing a lot of random nuts and bolts, dizzy bolts, valve cover nuts, etc... Not sure if I should drop in this a1 or look for something a little more complete. Help?
Just start over, who knows if it's even any good. Plus once you add up all the missing bolts and parts, you could be well on your way to a complete B18B1 94+ LS engine. The B18A1 comes from pre 94 integra's.
Like 97H22AEK said, he could have just "threw it in" because it was a bad engine. He could have also threw it in because he thought it was junk..alot of people hate on LS's and call them junk all day long.
As far as the missing bolts. Valve Cover bolts, dizzy bolts, etc..it may seem like alot but its probably not as bad as you think. You can go to Hondapartsunlimited, etc and order that stuff and it really wouldn't cost THAT much. I would agree it would be hard to spend the money on those misc items though until you know if the engine is good. It usually sucks when you don't know the history of the engine.
