Default I think you should know that ...

My Volkswagen diesel produces more torque at tickover than your VTEC motor does at the redline.

If VWs were anywhere near as reliable as Toyotas or Hondas I would be all over them. The way VW engines makes torque makes me...

It's all about the maintenance. They'll last if you take car of them and mod them safely, just like most other cars.

I'd much rather have a VW.

I'm talking about electrical issues more than mechanical (reliability in that sense, nearly all major car manufactures make tough engines nowadays). They also tend to tear up rear tires pretty fast.

Although, newer VAG engines seem to be plauged by sludging issues and IIRC using non-synthetic oil will void the warranty. Thankfully Honda engine are not known for sludging, even when oil changes are not done so regularly.

Castrol SYNTEC 5W-40
"Engineered specifically to meet the Volkswagen engine warranty requirements, exceeding VW 502 00 and 505 00. Exceeds all car and light truck manufacturer's warranty requirements for the protection of gasoline, diesel and turbocharged engines where API SL, SJ, SH, CF or CD is recommended. Porsche approved and also exceeds European ACEA: A3, B3, B4, MB 229.3, MB 229.1, BMW LL-98. Meets the engine protection requirements of Volvo, BMW, Mercedes Benz and ILSAC GF-3 for API Certified Gasoline Engine Oils".

.

It really sucks for me beacuse I want to like a lot of VAG cars, especially most Audis, they just don't last and are very expensive to fix.

I don't understand how I can own a Honda, have plenty of friends with Vokswagens, Mustangs, Nissans...and nobody has an issue. Yet there's still people out there that think they have something to prove and try to cause an uproar over a joke of a rivalry...

Very true. A true car enthusiast can appreciate aspects of vehicles that they do not wish to own.

This quote comes to mind:

“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."
