i have a standard transmission civic. my car doesnt seem to move when i put it in first gear. i can put it in 1 , 2 , 3, 4 gear easily without holding on the clutch. i cant put it in 5th gear or reverse. whats wrong with my car?

loll. of course my car was on. would anyone know how much it would cost to replace my clutch? im hoping its not to much.

 

plan on doing it yourself or paying a shop? parts arent too bad but the labor is

 

im planning on doing it myself. i just wanna know whats wrong with my car so i would know what to buy to fix it. i hope its just the clutch. when my car is on 1,2,3,4 gear it feels like its still in neutral cause when i step on gas it just revs and doesnt move at all. and my car dont stall if i just leave it in gear with the clutch up. my clutch doesnt pump at all to.

 

Did this all just suddenly happen, or did you finally kill your car? Are you leaving part of the story out? (this has been happening lately)

majestic honda is a really good place to get parts, doesnt look like parts will be too much at all

 

If you can put it in gear without the clutch, the clutch disk may be snapped in the middle & the pressure plate and outer part of the clutch is spinning around it. If that is not it, it might be a little more serious. It may be a bad input shaft (broken or stripped gear) or a stripped gear on the cluster. Hopefully, it’s just the clutch disk. If it is just the clutch disk & you do the job yourself, I recommend you replace the pressure place with a rebuilt one. Also put in a new clutch release bearing. Inspect the flywheel. If it is blue-ish in color or heat scored, get it resurfaced (similar to turning a brake rotor) or replace it.

 

this happened when my friend tried to do a burnout with my car. i dont know if he burned the clutch or anything. after that the car just stop moving. the clutch still pumps but than my brother tried to fix it and now it wont reject when i step on the clutch
