Going to the Local Dragstrip in April need tips
i have a 1992 integra GSR with a b18a block b17 head b16B type r pistons 2001 gsr cams and full 2.5 inch exhaust straight pipe and car is tuned i have a b17 short tranny i am going to the track for test and tune and want to get some quick times and also go to the high school drags any tips on getting a fast time and also debating on whether to keep my 17's or borrow my brothers 15's but the 15's have no traction and the 17's do any advice.
On a more realistic note....
Tips:
When you get to the track, do not use race fuel, 93 octane is fine.
Bring an air pressure gauge, let a little air out of your tires, about 25 psi is fine( when your tires fatten out a little, you get a little better traction.
Don't run on those 17's - unless they are really light weight.
I would run the 15's - considering they are lighter than the 17's, no chromies!
Do not go through the burn out(water) box- your wet tires will never get you off the line. you will run like a 22 second quarter mile.
When launching, do not dump the clutch - i did this at 2500 rpms and snapped an axle with my b16/LS LSD transmission.
Ease off the clutch but launch at 2k-3k rpms to get a good feel for it.
Do not granny shift
Nervousness will make you mis-shift, ha, be confident about what your doing..
Between runs pop your hood and let it cool
Don't have more than a 1/8th tank of gas when you get there - less weight
unload as much weight as possible (spair tire, jack, crap just laying around in your car)
Remove accessory belts before you run (power steering, A/c compressor) - less drag.
Windows closed..
Make sure you can pass inspection when you get there - don't have any leaks, all safety equipment working..
These are just a few things i learned running my integra at the track..
Have fun and don't forget to stop and air your tires back up.

Why ask this here? We have a drag racing forum.
And try some punctuation. Seriously, that run-on sentence is a PITA to read.

sorry about the punctuation but you said something about leaks, my engine leaks a little bit of oil but its not something that will leak to the ground. it just leaks from my vtec soleniod not that big of a deal it just leaves grease on the block and my battery is bolted on really nice will it pass inspection.

LOL THIS POST IS FUNNY just go and have fun and learn while you are there man. Want me to tell you how to start you car and teach you how to shift?
i am going to run the **** out of it my car should be fast because it was a all motor build with my dad. i raced my brothers ek lsvtec built turbo only running 6 psi and i pulled away from him slowly.

If your track has 100 octane unleaded add some of this. Make sure your air filter is clean, oil is full, and your valve lash is set correctly.
Don't drop the clutch but in a GSR you can launch higher, about between 4-5k. In my GSR the Hondata launch control is set at 4500rpm right now.
Since you mentioned it was tuned you want to shift 200-300 rpm past the max hp. This should put you back in the sweet spot in the next gear.
Since it is your first time don't expect greatness, just have fun. It will take you a lot of seat time to get really good.
What I mean by really good is 2.0-2.1 60' on street tires. That night I was able to out do a turbo civic on slicks and a LS Integra on drag radials off the line.
Your brother must not know how to drive. But goodluck, people get nervous all the time. LOL

i was trying to use this compression calculator to get an idea of what you got.
i mentioned that 93 is fine, well for my jdm b18c it is, but if you got p73-A0 pistons and that b17 head, (not sure) but that may raise your compression about 11:1, so the higher octane gas may benefit you.
With a DA chassis you should get decent times, i have a dc2, but i have only managed high 14's with my car and some bolt on's, if your beating a turbo ls/vtec on motor then you sound like you got a pretty nasty build for a street motor.
Once you get your footing, if your car does what it says, you should be running 13's

you are correct but i dont really have the money for that i go to school and work side jobs for a friends construction business, so i only have enough to get gas and little things.
2 things... I'd like you to do one run shifting a little after your peak power and another at redline and post your times.
And I like this calculator much more. http://www.zealautowerks.com/

all these posts led me to believe it is a quick car. it ran a 15.4. i dont think traction is your biggest concern. its tuned right? how much power did it make?
its street tuned and i had those stupid 17's on and was sleeping off the line i thought it would be quicker. I didnt think i would pass inspection because of my cracked windshield. So i didnt even bring the 15's, also i just dumped the clutch on launch control my friend told me that was wrong, he said you have to ease the clutch and adjust the throttle. So we went to practice and it makes a big difference.
Here is my first run ran a 15.6 and missed 3rd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g1LrmHqlzA the SI is good off the line, thats my car with the loud exhaust
