Newbish transmission fluid change questions...
Hi all,
I've had my 1999 Civic EX for a short period of time and have spent the past few days doing some routine maintenance on it (spark plugs, wires, cap/rotor, oil change, etc). The one that I totally forgot about was to change the automatic transmission fluid.
I saw the write-up here for the manual transmission fluid change and have a few (likely newb) questions about changing my fluid:
1) Are the filler/drain plug washers the same size?
2) I looked and I don't think I can do this with the car on the ground, could I do it with the car on rhino ramps or would this not work as it would be at an incline?
3) About how many quarts will I need to buy?
Thanks guys!

not sure on the washers but ive never ever have ever changed them out before cause there not really crush washers. but if they look thin knock yourself out. and ive done hundreds with just a jack and stands. and itll take roughly 2 1/4qts. so get 3qts of hondas new syncro mesh fluid.

Easiest is to jack it up , and take off the passenger wheel. you will have better access.
Also, you should use honda ATF or a good subsititute ( I use valvoline highmileage in my automatic transmission and worked great for 1/4 of the price, I do change my transmission fluid often though-once a year).
And If I rememeber correctly you need 4qts for the automatic transmission.
