Mount bracket tearing off of Frame: Common?
My passenger side motor mount bracket is starting to tear off the frame, with my massively powerful D16Z6 swap apparently being the problem (/sarcasm). Is this a common problem and is it easily fixable, or should I look at as a sign to start redirecting my cash from a high HP-D to a K-swap since you have to shave that mount anyways.
my buddies did that in his 98 coupe. i dont think its common but it has happened. he just had it rewelded and never had a problem after that. may just be some welds are weaker from tha factory, but idk....good luck
I'm just dreading the labor cost involved in re-welding this mount back in. Now if it something that could be done in one afternoon, I believe it's a win since this is a daily driver.
I hope it's that easy, I'll grab some pictures tomorrow (or later depending on my pain meds) to see if it is easily repairable.
I have a certified welder in the meantime taking a look at it, but here are the pics for everyone's enjoyment.
Pictures of the damages:

In the second picture you can clearly see the Z7 Brand (Patent Pending) Intake which causes the drivetrain to produce 3,700Ft/lbs of torque between 0-52,000RPM. If only I had removed it when poor Jimmy was sucked into it this could have been averted.

Shipping will be rather expensive, you see my transmission casing is also made of stable dark matter (it's a bitch to stop it from ripping apart the known universe), and it is incredibly dense. You'd have to cover shipping from 33131, at an approximate weight of 5.9×10^17 kg.
I rather enjoyed your banter...Its a shame you ended up with those broken welds sir. I would help you out if you werent so dam far away welding that wouldnt be too hard.
dang i wish my passenger side mount would have came off that eazy, mine was stuck on there and very hard to take off, i'd say its a good time to go with k20 = )

You didn't even need an air hammer or grinder when you were doing the swap, you could have beat it off with just the torque present in the intake when the engine is off.

First time I have seen that happen to a honda.
It does not look to bad in the pics though I would say maybe a couple of hours maybe 3 worth of work to get it off clean everything up and reweld it back together.

Anddddd
It was fixed today. When the transmission was disconnected the bracket hit the floor
It was welded around the edges instead of 1/2 spot welds that Honda MFG applied; also the bracket on the transmission side was tearing so some lovely welds were slapped on that, and the cable support for the clutch cable managed to tear itself so it received a nice line of liquid metal as well.

I'm just tired at work, so there is no brain-mouth filter for my jokes in the meantime.
