So I just dropped a fresh d16y8 into my 92 hatch... my distributor does not match up and I don't really want to hack it up... is there anyway I could get the 98 distributor to work in my car? If so how? I've been googling for 45 minutes and I got nothing... need to get this working by 2maro night

Im using the d16z6 dizzy on the y8 head but its completly off, so I want to use the 98 dizzy instead... im using the obd1 92-95 harness... would the 98 dizzy plug into obd1 harness? And if I have to rewire it, does anybody have a diagram because I can't find one

Just swap the guts from the Z6 distributor into your Y8 distributor. Or check out the link in my signature if you really want to rewire it, because Honda used different variations of colors for their wires, so it's better to rewire it by position rather than color.

you are going to either need a conversion harness or a frankenstein dizzy. I have a frank'd dizzy in my car. It works fine, but its a bitch when there is a possible issue with it, because you have to open up a dizzy and swap parts, instead of just swapping the dizzy.

Or you could just use a D15B7/D15B8 distributor that bolts up and plugs right in.

wait wtf, a b7 dizzy actually bolts up to a Y8 head? how the ****. Also does it go in on both ways, or does it only fit 1 way like normally.

how interesting. I thought all the OBD-1 housings were the same, just like the OBD-2 ones are the same.

nope. There are 3 different OBD1 D-series distributor housings in fact:

OBD1 non-vtec (same housing as all OBD2 D-series engines)
OBD1 vtec/vtec-e
OBD1 DOHC ZC

Yes it will. My brother in law is running his OEM b7 dizzy on my old y8 engine in his 94 CX. That's the exact distributor you want for that swap.

Yes that's the distributor... I have that bolted perfectly but I also still can't figure out why I have no spark or fuel, 5 distributors that aren't working (3 of which are new) 2 fuel relays that are making noise (1 of which is new) and a solid check engine light that I can't check because it stays solid even when I jump the service plug... should I just junk it? Im really tired of this car already
