Default Hey guys really need your help my ef sedans running like crap!!!!

ef sedan..

obd1
mini me swap
throwing codes 3 and 20.. (map sensor and electrical load detector)
p28 ecu..

the car will be driving down the road fine and i come to a stop and it idles at 2000 rmp and then instantly drops to about 100rpm struggling to keep running then boom the car dies...

and then ill be driving and the car falls on its face and loses all power and starts back firing?

has anyone ever had this problem... what could it be?

any imput would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks guys

need more info to help you man.I assume it's a d16z6 head on a dpfi(dual point fuel injection) d15 block?How/what did you use as far as a harness for obd1?have you converted it to multi point fuel injection?

its a y7 block with a y8 vtec head....

the car is mpfi converted to obd1

rywire conversion harness..

the car will be idling at 2k then drop to 100rpm.. boggs down real low then dies..

i have to keep giving it gas just to get the car to idle

cel 20 and 3

i changed the map sensor and pig tail and still having the same problem..

this is so frustrating any help would be awesome

Code 3 will make your car run like crap for sure. MAP sensor is what the ECU reads for vacuum.

If you have changed the sensor itself and the map it sounds like you got a wiring bug. You will want to check the wiring.

If you have a multimeter put the positive on Yel/Red and body ground. With the key on (car not running) do you get 5v?

If you don't go to the ECU and check between D19 (+) and D21 (-).

If you don't have 5v here then something is up with the ECU usually.

If you DO have voltage between D19 and D21 then you have a wire break between the ECU and the MAP sensor itself.

awesome.. very usefull info..ill check this out.. and if i do have a break in the wire instead of tearing apart the harness is there anyway i can just run the wires right to the ecu?

Im sure you could, just make sure that you tape off the open wires from where you cut it so there are no cross connections or anything.

well of course my multimeter is broken so i go to buy a new one and theres no place open till tomorrow here in toledo ohio.. just my luck.. i guess ill have to wait.. hopefully this works.. anyidea where i can find the ecu diagram to see where exactly d19 and d21 are?

if i do just wire the plug right to the ecu what size of power wire should i use?? will 18gage be okay to get 5v??? anyone have any suggestions?
