Default Front tire size question for 05 s2000

Stock for the front is 215/45/17.... I know that a 225/45/17 will fit and that a lot of people have this set up, but here is 2 questions: 1. Can I run a 225/40/17 on a stock ap2 rim? Question 2. Why does the s2000 have the stagger set up? Now mind you, this is for the front.

I wouldnt advise messing with tire heights, they are that way for a reason. As for staggered sizes, are you referring the the different widths?

A lot of performance cars have wider rears, more rubber is more grip. The different heights I cant offer any insight in to.

I think I'll stay at 245/40/17 for the rears, and go 225/45/17 for the fronts. It will be a little wider in the front, but I can't find A 215 on the Michelin Tires I have on the back. People with 225 in front... Any noticeable diff in grip or anything?
