need help on how to change ATF on 2010 accord
how come there isnt a DIY thread on how to do this? also is it easy to find the drain plug for this model? and do i have to do a 3x drain fill procedure for this? if anyone has pix, please post..
btw, approx how many quarts of atf do i need for this?
reason: i just want to put some amsoil fluid on my car.
thanks so much!

That's all in your Owners manual ,you can't drain it all in one time as converter has no drain AFAIK .
V6 -3.5 US qt to refill , 7.9 US qt total AT
2.4L -2.6 US qt to refill , 6.9 US qt total AT
I would leave the honda stuff in there for a while .

Do you really want to void your transmission warranty? I would keep using Honda ATF at least until the warranty runs out. It would take quite a few drain and fills, to get rid of the Honda ATF. I think you would need about 20 quarts of amsoil, to replace most of the Honda ATF, since you can't drain it all out. How much does a quart of amsoil cost?
LPED, I think it's Quarts, not Gallons.

I did this to mine auto 03 4 cyl a long time ago, it's very easy. Drain the fluid, the bolt on the bottom very easy to locate(It's marked blue or green), just stick a socket extension in the bolt (can't remember the size sorry). Pour the Honda ATF through the tranny dip stick hole, about 3 quarts. Drive around go through the gears and make sure there are no leaks.
Rinse and repeat two more times. It will feel quite bit smoother especially if you have old fluid. I would personally go with Honda ATF.

DO NOT use amsoil before your warranty runs out. Despite what they say it WILL void your transmission warranty. V6 transmissions aren't exactly world known for their reliability as it is.

1. Look underneath the car for the transmission drain plug, its very easy to find and start draining
2. Look behind your throttle body and a little to the right(driver side) and straight down at your transmission. There is a 17mm bolt with a red marking on it(thats your fill). The only thing is that there is another 17mm bolt close to it but you'll know which one is the tranny fill
3. take that bolt all the way out
4. put the drain plug back in and fill through the top.
5. start with about 3 qts, go through your gears holding it in each one for 10 seconds
6. check your level and how clean it looks
7. If you want to get all the fluid out there is a way to undo the cooler lines and run hoses into a new fluid bucket and an old fluid bucket and you just start the car and when the waste fluid becomes bright red then you're done. I didn't do this simply cause I couldn't afford to buy that many qts of fully synthetic ATF.
its a 2010 accord you cant possibly need to change it yet!!!
quit screwing around, change motor oil every 3K with whatever (literally) and it will last forever
just drain and fill the tranny every 40K if you want, **** it.
i dont see the point of doin a flush, i mean nobody flushes motor oil, theres like a quart that stays behind!

My $.02. Like many others who have posted, I strongly discourage using non-Honda ATF. As you are still under warranty, using Honda-specified fluids will keep your car under warranty. I'm sure that if you didn't use Honda-specified fluids & a problem arose, you'll be up that proverbial creek w/o any means of locomotion. Google "Honda ATF substitutes" to get info, then make up your own mind.
Here is a suggestion regarding Honda ATF changes that was posted on a CR-V site. Makes a whole lot of sense if you ask me. http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/...?t=2324&page=2, especially #16. I plan on doing this @ every 2nd motor oil change, which is about 7.5K-8.0K according to MM.
