Track days in Seattle
hi,
I am from the UK, and I might be relocating to Seattle, Washington, and was wondering if you could tell me if there are any race tracks close by, and if they run track days?
Any internet resources you could point me at would be appreciated too.
Thanks in advance.

Pacific Raceways is in the suburbs south of Seattle. It's a nice track, mostly wooded, with some nice elevation changes and other fun stuff.
I do not recommend signing up for "open lapping days". Such "events" allow everyone from novices who have never been on a track to hard-core racers to drive together at the same time, and it's a prescription for disaster.
If you're new to track driving, sign up for HPDE events with one of the groups that runs them, such as NASA or BMW CCA (which doesn't require you to own or drive their make); both groups have events at tracks all over the country. Proformance is another group, and they runs events only at Pacific Raceways (and primarily on weekdays). They're a good group, safety-oriented, and with a very high level of instruction.
After you build up experience, you can work your way up to one of the higher HPDE run groups or race groups in those events. You can also make contacts among locals who may rent the track for their own track days, and limit participation to those whose abilities they are familiar with.
I don't see any NASA events on the Pacific Raceways Schedule. Puget Sound Chapter BMW CCA has events scheduled for April 16, May 27, June 24, August 12, and September 16. You can find the Proformance schedule on their website.

Besides the BMW CCA you can also join the Alfa Club (which doesn't require you to own or drive their make) or the Porsche Club. I usually go with the Alfa Club HPDE events. If you registered as novice they will have an experienced driver to ride with you. Portland Oregon also has a track (Portland International Raceway) but I have not done any event there so I cannot provide you any useful information.
