I am replacing my climate control and the lever assembly that the cables attaches to broke too so I have to replace that.
The last time I took one of those apart I ended up breaking it because I couldn't figure out how to get the cables out safely!!
I can try and get pics up tomorrow.

well, the whole assembly can be taken out with the cables. that would be the best way to keep from braking the lever part. your new climate control should come with the cables attached to it.
One way to do it is use a heat gun on the plastic right before you try to pull them out to loosen it up some. But like crx si-r, the best way is to remove from under the dash.
I can't remember if you can do this on the crx climate control, but I now on the civic ones you can just take the front off with out having to take the assembly out. Now that I think about it, you may not be able to do this on the crx one. Good luck though.

crx climate control is the same. there will be 1 cable that goes directly behind the climate control next to the firewall and the other goes through the firewall and onto the heater control valve in the engine bay next to the firewall. undo the 2 metal clips that lock them in place, then GENTLY pry them up and over there tab. and gently guide them out. install is the same only backwards.

Unfortunately the climate control I received has broken cables (its new to me, but a used part).
I may have to try to the heat gun. Otherwise if i may be able to get away without switching them out.
Thanks
