ITR - Primary Upgrades
Hi, and thanks for a great forum!
Im getting an ITR from germany these days, and I was wondering what I should start spending money on. I was thinking exhaust system, cams, intake - but what brands are best suited for the ITR? Thanks in advance for your answers!
Best regards,

Don't know what's available in Germany but start with the basics...Intake, Header, Exhaust...Then move to the next level...Cams, Cam sprockets, Valvetrain, Clutch/Flywheel...Bump the compression up some with a new head gasket. I would go with JUN for the cams and valvetrain. And a mugen Headgasket...IMO these will give you some very respectable numbers
Hi again, and thanks for your answers!
Im actually from Norway, and I am importing the car from Germany. In Norway a stock ITR from 1998 is close to 35.000USD. In Germany its 23.000USD. Quite a diffrence
Anyways - Exhaust is prolly the first upgrade Ill go for, along with intake. What brand would you reccomend for exhaust? There are SO many to choose from.. Apexi, Greddy, Mugen, Spoon, SuperSprint, DCSport... the list goes on. Makes me dizzy!
Best regards,

Depends on if your willing to spend the money. If that's not an issue go with the Mugen or Spoon system. If you want to spend a little less go with something more affordable like Comptech, DC, or Apex'i. It's all about the budget your looking to spend...
) it would be the ATS... that thing fawking rocks all get out
I'd say the same stuff everyone else is saying, depending on what is available in your area.
Intake - AEM, Comtech Icebox.
Exhaust manifold (header) - something with larger primaries and 2.5" collector, like the JDM 4-1 or DC Sports JDM 4-1.
Catalytic converter - Carsound - 2.5" in, 2.5" out.
Exhaust to match up with the 2.5" exit from the cat!
Cams/Cam sprokets.
Most importantly, ATS final drive, or JDM 4.785 final drive. Everyone raves about it!
In the end, it is up to you. To get any power, this engine needs a good deal of tuning. So once you have a few mods, you'd need to start tuning the fuel, vtec engagement point, and cam gears. Lots of great info on this site. Make sure to search the archived and recent topics!
Good Luck!

I'd suggest you leave most everything alone at first, the R is quite potent and a ton of fun totally stock. Final Drive is a badass mod (i love my ATS 4.929)...new brake pads and fluid, some good tires, and go to a road course and have fun.
