Icon2 Picked Up a 96 CX HATCH!!

So i live in WA, and i just picked up a new 96 Civic hatch for 2500 from this older guy that had the car since 96 with 1500 miles on it and the car was originally from California and its got 198k which sucks!!! but its w/e ha, all maintence records, new tires, he got the brakes done all around and new radiator, windshield has no cracks, its clutch is weak , and think a tranny mount is broken(didnt really think much of it till after i bought the car).. the car has little dings here and there and some are harder to spot more than others, only problem with exterior is really faded bumper and little scratches here and there... foggy *** headlights lol. interior i need new clips for the cargo cover and driver door panel has a little seem problem and a little dimple on the dash, i think from some stupid girl putting her heel on the dash. No floor mats but seats are pretty flawless, not sure if the rear window defroster doesnt defrost as fast as it should be it gets there?? anyone know how to fix this?...... (just washed the car so i take pictures and post in a few.. Pictures that i took was right after i bought the car)

Dirty Engine BAY!

Im doing a senior project and i gotta have like 40 hours of logged hours working on the car, im workin on a budget so i only have so much... I ordered some egay coilovers.... yeah shitty i know, and then i just ordered a deck(i figured i could rack in some hours with wiring and such).. Im figuring i could paint the side markers and side moldings black to get rid of that faded look, and also do a full detail on the car to get more hours in as well.. any suggestions that are time consuming and within 10-100 dollar range?!

Why order crappy no name coil over, they ride horrible???

Buy some decent lowering springs like ST or Tien, they aren't a lot, and ride and handle so well

i bet you could have found a used set of gcs or skunk2s or something for a little more then your ebay ones,

for 10-100- you could clean up thoes headlights and fully detail the thing, a good wax can go a long way. clean up the engine bay as well.
paint looks like its in pretty good shape, but could definetly use a wet sand or clay bar and a couple coats of wax

thanks , i thought it was a DX when i was going to go look at it then i found out it was a CX, first thing i thought about was that its lighter.. for some reason car has A/C lol thinkin about just tearing it out, but it works doesnt blow really cold but somewhat, its wasted weight tho, i could just go faster with the windows down ha

keep the ac. you might be able to get more if you have working a/c if/when you decide to sell your car, and the ac doesn't weigh that much.
if you wanna log some hours, pick up a z6 or a y8 head and mini me it. you'll win points with your teacher, you'll learn something about your car, and you'll benefit some more power from it.
another good way to log hours is to replace your clutch, simply because there's so much you have to remove just to drop the trans.
one other thing that could log you an hour or two, if it needs to be done bleed the brakes and clutch line.

car looks good!

Thanks for all the feedback guys, Yeah clutch is a big thing im thinkin about, but like i said im on a budget and i dont have much money to replace the clutch, but im going to see if i can do it, another problem is the tools cause i dont have some of the stuff you need,

Anyone know where i can get cheap clutch??

As for the mini me i cant afford a head so thats probably out of the question and idk, would i want to do that on a 198k motor?

Bleeding breaks is a good idea thanks man!

Yeah I got you. Get some 1000 1500 2000 2500 and 3000 grit sand paper from eGay. You can get it for about $6 shipped ive purchased it twice. Then get some Plastic Lens restorer from your local auto parts shop.

Start doing the 1000 horizontally, then the 15000 vertically etc etc. Afterwards do about 2 or 3 passes with the plastic wax then apply a light coat of paint wax.

Anyways, your car looks pretty good. You should detail the engine and make it look spiffy haah. It looks like its been taken care of I like it. I miss when mine looked like yours so think about each mod before you do it!
