Older CRX's
I just recently picked up an 86 CRX DX, and was wondering if it is at all compatible with parts from the 88-91? Or is the 1st gen just a whole beast of its own? Also everywhere i look in honda forums, no one will have a section for the 1st gen? Are the the bastard step child or what? This is my first CRX work, so i dont know much about them. But i do know hondas/acuras.

I Had an '84 awhile back as a project. I recently sold my Accord, and bought a 2nd generation crx. They are very different, The small details are similiar, but they are set up very diffferent. the 1st gens have odd suspension where as 2nd have more modern style, 1st gens are carbureted except for the si, and 2nd gens have cable shift transmissions, where 1sts have (I forget the name for it) large bars underneath from the shift assembly to the trans. I got a lot of information from the classic hondas forum here, its for pre '88. Redpepper did have lots of helpful information as well though.
As an owner of both generations i can tell you that pretty much the only thing interchangable between the two are the wheels, lol
The 1st gen crx does share a lot of the same parts as the 1st gen Integra though, even the dohc D16A1 engine bolts right in. Because you car uses a carb, you would need to add a lot of wiring for the fuel injection, plus change all of the fuel lines to high pressure for fuel injection, plus add a electronic fuel pump.

Thanks for all the help. I was thinking of swapping the engine, but i think it would be to money and time consuming!!! I am hoping to do a quick and easy facelift and resell.
