Timing Belt getting shred up somehow. H22A motor in Del Sol
okay here is the problem,
first time, timing belt gets shreded a bit and skips a bunch of teeth,
so changed tensioner and timing belt,
drove for like 1-2days, same thing, timing belt gets shreded, but not as bad doesn't jump many teeth like 2-3,
so replaced the whole tensioner with a kit washers bolts and everything and slap on a new timing belt, as soon as the car starts, timing belt starts to get shred again,
btw im not the one doing this, its my mechanic who is also a friend , trying to fix my car,
UPDATE:
got the car back today, all seemed fined,, then i poped my hood wheni got home,, and what you know EDGES SHOW WEAR
. we changed the whole tensioner and bolts and belts, timing belt, took off the top timing belt cover, It looks like its moving side to side.. i got no more moneys
. somebody socal come down and take a look??
he said give him a few days to figure out, but i might as well help him and post. says the timing belt is rubbing on the tensioner and moving, resulting in skipped teeth and edges are worn.
ANY IDEAS??? PLEASE xD

The manual tension is better than the hydro. Check your cam, crank, water pump gears. the whole area where the belt rolls on. Maybe you have a chirp somewhere...
Good luck
Good luck
Have him check and make sure the timing belt retainer washers are installed down on the crank. Maybe when it was assy. it might be missing one and the belt could walk off one way or the other.

gay i just got my car back today.. drove back home,, and then notice the edges were starting to shred -_-.. OMG>> WTF, my mech did all those things, replaced the whole tenisoner and timing belt, took off the top part of the timing belt cover
.. the timing belt looks like its kinda moving side to side a lil

same thing with my h2b idn wut the problem is ive been tryna figure it out my belt deff is floating back and forth and the tensioner is good the belts not skippin it runs and drives but my belt isbein chewed up and the belt it hangin off the cam gears about 1mm
Sounds like maybe one of the pulleys or gears the belt rides on is bent...
Im thinking the belt naturally wants to center itself as everything is rotating...Now when the bent component comes around and contacts the belt (because the bent part may not always be in contact at all times), it "pushes" the belt off...
Im not super familiar with H series, but do they also have the "guide washers" down on the crank to keep the belt centered?
Maybe try new cam gears and/or waterpump?
Good luck!

this is a weak diagram but pretend this is the oil pump housing: |
this is the washer: )
make the washer sit like this on the oil pump housing (this is lame ahaha): |)
Pretty lame and I'm too lazy to draw this in MS Paint. hahaha
also, the Kragen timing tensioner, does it come with a clamp tool on it like the one on the right?

Did your buddy, mechanic, remove the clamp tool once he set the timing belt? If he didn't, that is probably why you keep skipping teeth and have so much slop...
Hope that helps...
That crank washer will also show a wear sign on one side of it and that is the tell tell how it goes on as well in relation with the timing gear.
I wouldn't trust any hydro tensioner other then honda... thought of aftermarket scares me wasn't aware there were any...
I havent seen any manual tensioners fail on the H/Fs
I have seen improper installs not the right parts and bolts not tight enough and backing out causing chaos
