Default performance mods for DA with B16A

hi guys,
im abid,from dhaka bangladesh.
im new in here and also new with hondas, dont know much about them

i just bought a 92 integra DA coupe with a swaped b16a in it.
the owner told me it has the itr cams, valve springs and rechiped.

the owner also did some brake updates and chassis stray bars from the 96 itr i think.

it revs up to 9000 rpm now.

we dont have very few aftermarket parts in here so i did the exhaust myself with a 2.25 inch straight pipe from the headers till the end box with just one little bend and put on a free flow mufler,a Thailand version of the HKS one.

next im planning on building a heat-shield and mount the air filter bit away from the engine so it gets colder air.

also another thing is the other day i tried pulling it hard and it went up to 140kmph,but then the accelaration decreased pretty much and after the 160kmpph (100miles/hour) mark it almost got stuck,i cudnt push it beyond much.

im very new and might ask totaly stupid questions, but can you please suggest me some good performance updates for me?

i was planning to do about 210-220whp with it.also thinking about turbo charging, but dont know how much will it cost or anything. i know people in here who can bolt on turbos in here,bt dont know if they will be able to tune it cause there r no DYNO places in here

ok thankx bro.i was thinking about skunk2 stage cams.but i dont have much cash to spent $5-6k on parts alone to built a all motor 200-220whp.

i preffer DIYs more since im low on cash anyways.

also what you think about a turbo? how much will that cost and what will i need for that?i got people here who can install the kit,but dont know about the tunning.also there is no dyno,so is it possible to "safely" turbo my car? i heard without proper tunning the engine will die very soon.

Welcom to honda-tech. How about some pics of the car.
you got a great start here. Personally I would have the valve train checked out to verifiey it's itr componets, especially if your reving 9k. just my thought. With those upgrades that B16 would respond pretty good to an intake manifold and header upgrade..
If your thinking on going boosted, Im pretty sure you would be alright running low psi something around 6 to 8 and with a decent "street" tune.. at least someone who can adjust fuel and timing to avoid any possible detonation... you should be fine.

thankx for the reply and this much appreciation guys.

well the problem is the place where i live dont have much aftermarket parts. to be honest, not at all aftermarket parts...even if i just need an original K&N air filter than i have travel outside the country to another one and get it myself. therefore im relying on as much DIY as possible with other parts.

im a undergrad business student btw, today after my class i did half of the cold air intake.....i joint three 3.5inch diameter pipes to make the intake pipe long enough so it reaches from the intake manifold to the side of the fender opening where i attached the mushroom like aftermarket filter(the only one i can find in a local store, its a chines copy of the real one). basicaly its the pipe.....then few layers fiber that works as insulation which does not let the heat of the engine bay pass to the pipe so the pipe stays cool....n then there is da alluminium foil which deflects the engine bay heat to another direction......so when all these work togather the air intake pipe stays cool. (thats my theory so far...no dyno so cant check)

this was my todays update......now i want to put a semi box typ think made out of tin(which is like the thing that some K&N short ram or cold air intake have....a plastic typ haf boxed heat defeltor) and then that also warped with my 2 layer heatshilding. i think my intake will be complete after that.

let me know your suggesions guys, please i need lots n lots of help

my car is a honda OBD 0.....thats what the previous owner told me and it has a ecu chip installed,he said he got the chip written from a company in singapore. they write the program then send it via DHL and he just puts it.he showd me a steel encloused box near the passenger steat's feet rest. there he opens that and put on a chip,he says thats ECU.

i already have the Type R cam, value spring and some aftermarket bearing in it so it revs up to 9000rpm.it also has a short gear ratio gear box S1 with 4.4 final drive from crx si.mild polish on the head. the compression is 10.8 now.

then for the handleing it has GSTR shock absorbers,96 spec 11.1front rotor wid calliper,96 spec front sway bar.front sperings from gsr,92 xsi chassis bar.....i dont have a track.just do some midnight pulling around the city and im pretty happy with how the car handles so far,so lets make it a bit
faster.then i'll work on da handling.

i'll take some pics soon and upload them

just buy the greddy turbo kit, if i remember correctly it comes with everything you need including engine management, so no tuning necessary

guys no reply with my post anymore??

some help please and some suggestions?? my old owner is saying the car has a bad fuel pump thats why it is performing bad. but i dont know, the can seem to take acceleration,it revs good as well. what do you think it can be? since it got a civic tyre R cams and rechiped with a type R program and type R valve springs with 2.5inch straight,no cat exhaust.so it should at least go to 180+kmph,it should not die just after 140,right?

some help please!!!

the power of the car is not going to change the top speed, your transmission controls how fast you can go

im running a 5MT from a CRX (rs or si or some trim like that)

im at 4th with around 6000rpm when doing 140,just in the vtec, yet no power to move much. so its not the transmission, its the engine thats leaking power

well you're going about 87 mph in 4th gear, i dont think that a b16 would pull that hard at high speeds like that

yes i think, the gears are very close, like a short shifter and also all the gears fall good, like shifting from 8200 to 6300....always in the vtec range

i dont know, usually its better to run low compression if you're running boost, the greddy turbo kits come with the engine management system basically substituting tuning i believe, you should check that out

yes i know i have to lower the compression,i can do that by having a thicker head gasket or something may be.

yes i saw the greddy kit,its around $3300 listing. but my budjet is abit low, somthing like $1200-1400

any suggestions on that?

you're going to get alot more tq out of your set up, which is what your b16 is lacking. Honestly youre not going to be able to make ALOT of power with a 1200-1400 budget, especially without being able to get a tune
