Some of you have probably noticed that we have had some unwelcomed visitors to our section of the MB. This person(s) is registering under different (obvious) screen names and doinG nothing more than creating inflammatory threads that are calling H-T members names, etc.

Here is the important part for all of you to know:

<FONT COLOR="RED">DO NOT REPLY TO THESE THREADS OR THE REPLY WILL BE DELETED AND % POINTS WILL BE TAKEN FROM YOUR SCREEN NAME</FONT>

I'm very sorry that it would have to come to this, but the problem with these people is that they are enjoying the fact that a lot of the members here are replying and just arguing back.

If we simply ignore these jackknobs then they will go away. If they do not go away then it's nothing more than a matter of a mod seeing their threads and deleting them.

I hope you all don't see this as unfair. I really don't like to dock points from valuable members here, but this is really the only way to do it.

 

BTW:

Feel free to IM me if you see any obvious flamers replying to, or creating new topics.

And if any of you disagrees with the tactics listed here, then by all means suggest something else and we'll try it that way.

If any of you missed out on yesterday's "festivities" then you only missed about 15 new topics created - most of them had the words "***" or "homo" in them so they aren't too hard to spot.

Let me know what you guys are thinking...

 

Another thing brought to my attention by another member:

This isn't a direct response to our members out of anger. The replies were actually quite funny, but the problem was that the topics were crowding out the really impostant tech Q's and the lame topics became the focus of attention.

No harm done from those who replied - hell I even went through and changed many of the guy's topics in case you didn't notice.

im far too new (at this board at least) to matter BUT, my expieriance (with some of the boards that im an administrator of, or moderate on, has been to actualy do nothing... if people (legitimant members) feel like talking **** back let emm... i mean in general when you get angry or ignore them.. it (normaly) pisses them off more, and they just become more annoying.. i would personaly just let the situation play itself out... i mean i understand once it gets rediculous (ex. ten new threads in like 2 minutes) that something needs to be done, but outside of that id just let it go..

I don't jump on those threads anyways but I am in agreement with Tom on this one. Sometimes the mods just gotta do something.

 

That is exactly how you keep trolls from being successful.

We had a thread on this in the ITR forum that was deleted for no apparent reason.

You're doing a good job as a moderator (in the short time you've been a mod).

Please if you read this, simply bump it up so everyone can see it before our flamers return and an innocent member gets docked because he/she didn't see this thread.
