I Have an interesting problem with my accord. Its a 94, F22B2 motor.
Every so often it won't start. It will crank and turn over. However I have observed that the RPMs don't run up as they do on a normal startup. It will run very rough and stall out unless I apply throttle., At which point it will rev up very roughly as though it is misfiring. Then finally smooth out and settle down to a normal idle. It does create a very strong odor of partially burned gas.

I am going to do a vacuum leak check and clean the Idle air control valve.

no cels? only happens on cold starts?

 

Threw a CEL once, but I suspect it is unrelated. It was a number 8 TDC code. Engine wasn't cranking as my starter solenoid sticks sometimes. Showed up once hasn't been back since.

It seems like lately its more frequent. I also have observed a very noticeable engine lurch that occurs under acceleration right after startup. As though the engine is struggling. After it runs out it doesn't reappear.

I'm inclined to look at my EGR, as it is exhibiting signs of an engine vacuum leak, but these symptoms appear at random.
