*911* D Series Swap Help!!
OK..... here's the deal. It's a SOHC ZC block with a D16a6 head on it.... after a long list of problems (swap was obviously doomed from the start) finally got everything in an bolted up. Go to put the timing belt over the cam gear and tighten it down..... and after the adjuster was FULLY tightened, the front side of the belt was completely loose. I mean ya could just wiggle it about an inch back and forth. I've adjusted the tensioner and everything, and the only thing I can think of is replacing the timing belt. Has anyone done this swap? I mean, the SOHC ZC and the USDM D16a6 are almost identical, correct? I measured the head height and they are both the same. The cam gears are the same size..... I can't think of what the hell the problem is. Apparently it worked fine with the ZC head on it, but I decided to not use that head because it *might* have a bent valve or something (right mario?) either way, is the SOHC ZC t-belt longer than the a6 belt? If anyones got any ideas, I'd appreciate the help. OR else I h\guess I'll just have to pull that valve an stick the ZC head back on, swap out the cam, etc.... either way I've gotta get it back on the road tonight.
Maaan.... this is why I usually dont mess with D series swaps
bad luck

Ewwww..stay away from ZCs!!! The idea is nice, but not worth the hassle of trying to find parts. For whatever reason Honda decided to use different belts, but I don't know which one or where to find em.
You may want to compare the A6 belt with the Z6 and Y8 to see if any fit better.
Personally, I did a mini-me swap (Y8 head/ A6 block)on my 91 Si and I am VERY happy with it!
I have dynod it at 125hp/ 11 lbs to the wheels. Pretty good for a SOHC 1.6 VTEC.
If I were you I would salvage what parts I could and go this route.
Or if ya wanna wait a few months I'll just sell you mine once I get my CTR motor!

dude the same thing happened to me when i did a z6 timing belt.only thing that was worng is the tensiones spring is not working properly i stuck a wrench under it pryed it up and it tensioned the wya it was supposed to be.give that a shot and tell me how you make out.is the motor in or out?
Well personally, I'd stay away from a D series BS if possible.... I'm much better with the B series crap
The SOHC ZC is just going into my daily POS 88 CRX..... trust me, its no performance swap by choice. More like a block swap out of necessity. Anywys, thanks for the input..... I'll see what I can come up with tonight...... maybe use the a6 tensioner or something on it...... we'll see. This thing just has to run until the end of next week, I'll finally have a tranny back on the b16 rex

1QWKCRX,
So you are saying that you dyno'ed you mini-me? It made 125hp to the wheels? How much torque? Your post only says 11 ft-lbs which I know isn't right. YOu don't by chance have the plot of the dyno run? I'm just curious as I have a mini-me swap as well.
