Default B16A head question....

Hi, i have searched but can't seem to come up with the answer to my inquiries.

1. Are there any difference between the castings of B16A (PR3) heads for different gen of B16A or B18C engines? I want to build my JDM ITR (OBD2a) motor but do not want any down time hence i would like to purchase an extra head. I want to ensure the head i am purchasing will work for my setup.

2. A B16A head that was prepared for a B20V or LSV setup, can this be reused on a B18C block? I believe oil lines has to be tapped a hole have to be drilled out out for a dowel pin? Am i mistaken?

Thanks.

The PR3 casting is the same as all PR3 castings regardless of the year, unless it was an ITR head, which would still be the same casting but would have a better valve job, minor porting and better valvetrain. You can bolt it on the B18c block and go no problem because the B18c is a VTEC block so no additional oil lines would need to be added.

Thanks for the response! But what about a head that was prepared for a LSV/B20V setup? Can that be reused on a B18C block?

If it was prepared, check to make sure the oil port in the head isn't plugged with an allen bolt etc. If it is, just remove it. The chambers may have been opened up for the larger bore which wouldn't be ideal to use on a smaller bore.
