Who in here has a head package for a SOHC?
Question saids it all? I'm talking about a racing head, port matched intake manifold along with a TB and cam, and any other extras such as ECU or fuel regulator. What can you say abou the gains from this mod?
You will notice some pretty decent gains for a SOHC, but it's still single cam. A stock b16a in the same chassis will still give you a tuff run, and most likely be faster. Save the money and go DOHC, you will be happier with it.
I wish I would have, it would have saved me some $$$$$$

i have a 91 civic si, i recently put a zc with gude cams and high comp pistons in, but the motor i took out was the a6 w/ gude full head package in and outs ignition, fuel regulator, ran a 14.2, i live in utah and we're at a high elevation, i putting out 151 hp to the wheels with around 133 torque, $1500 is what i spent on the head package, stock i ran low 18s, if i would've had the high comp pistons in the a6 i would've ran a lower et!! gude is the ****!!! i highly recommend them, they do have shitty customer service but the products made up for them!

TB
Intake Manifold
P&P Head
CAM
ECU
It should be installed by the end of this week. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Our Head package includes:
Port/polish head
Custom cam(d16a6 or D16vtecsoch), cam seal
valve job, new valve springs, retainers
CAm gear, port matched manifold
average increase is about 18-25hp to the wheels.
My own personal D16a6, all head work, stock bottom end. 13.6@99mph
making more torque than a stock B16A

Adrenaline,
So you were seriously putting out 151 HP and 133 tq with just the complete Gude head package? That is some serious HP gains. When did you buy the package from Gude? I've heard many mixed messages about Gude, some really great (like this one) and some really bad. Your story is exactly what i am looking for. Just slap on a head package for my a6 and hopefully hit low 14's. I would be happy with low 14's.

that is a lot of money. imo take the head to a machine shop have them port everything much cheaper. send in your cam and have it re done, or buy one, crower and crane both have excellent cams for the a6 (and d15's, same cam, not really but it fits just fine). also you can do all the port matching yourself and save even more money. 1200 is a turbo kit w/ will easily throw you in the 13's when tuned. low 14's all motor in a sohc non vtec is very cool but if your on a budget its NOT worth it.
off hand anyone know much much youd have to mill of the a6 head to yeild 12;1 comrpession on a stock d15b1 bottom end?
