ok. i put 2 coats of wax on it the other day and it looks a lot better but you can still see some fade in it. water doesnt even bead up on it anymore so its acting like the clear is gone off it. does anyone know what grit sand paper to wet sand with?

If you're going to re clear it you can sand it with 320-400. But yes, most likely the UV rays have damaged the carbon already.

no damage to the carbon....that is not what fades...its the resin...if you sand it down enough and not burn through the weave and then reclear it will look new.

^SiZ, Those grits are too low. You would cause more work for yourself trying to get the scratches out.

You should be using a Dual Action sander with 400, or wetsand by hand with 600 and then clear it up.

I'm just speaking from experience, its what I used about 3 months ago when I did mine. Actually, I started blocking it with 180, then 220, 320, and 400. Then clear. But whatever you want.

I work with CF everyday, and most certainly you can clear over 400 scratches.

This is the only pic I have of mine really. Its bad, you can't see the weave directly, and the hood is dirty, but you can see how flat it is now after I sanded it compared to a normal cheap pre-preg hood.
