Default Timing belt got owned again? H22A

so the other day was driving uphill in my h22a del sol, and the fuel pump gave out,

so replaced the fuel pump , and wouldnt start, turns out the tension belt ****ed which ****d up the timing belt,, lucky me the timing belt was there but shreded and timing was off by like 16 teeth,

replaced tension and timing belt, and drove for a bit,, then on the freeway car loses power,, little or no respone in the gas pedal, won't go over 2k,

looked at the timing belt,, it moved and got a lil shreded on the edges,

so now im wondering what the heck is causing the timing belt to move and shred the edges and causing my timing to skip,

will be replacing all the bolts and washers tomorrow,, hopefully that will do,

anybody have any ideas?

Its rubbing on something and you're probably not tensioning the belt properly if the timing belt is jumping.

Well the only thing I know is that improper tension causes your timing belt to jump. And usually when its shredding then its rubbing on either the valve cover or timing belt covers.

To inspect it. But from what i've seen both my buddies with h2b setups cant even use the timing belt covers due to clearance issues on the driver side. Im not sure if its the same with just h22 swaps.

Are you saying it moved teeth again or it just slid over on the cam gears and is rubbing against the t-belt cover? This is usually a problem with the tensioner not being installed correctly iirc, I think there's a washer you can put behind the tensioner that will move it into place. There's a thread in the Prelude section if you search for it if that is the problem. Is this the auto tensioner or the manual tensioner?

it did move teeth again but only off by like 3ish.. so it could run but not very well, the edges of the belt were all worn.. not sure if from the belt cover, my mech said hes gonna replace all the washers and bolts and ****, i have no idea whats auto tensioner and manual tensioner,

just got the swap like a month ago too fresh motor

Something is cutting it. Make sure nothing is sticking out that can touch it. Also, do you have your covers on? A little rock getting kicked up by your tire can shred one quick.

eh yeah cover was on,, dunno why all of a sudden it starts ****ing up, after putting timing belt on, the place was cleaned and sprayed with brake fluid.

so hopefully after replacing the washers and bolts and inspecting everything agian, it will be good . dunno why it starts happening all of a sudden though

Your mechanic might be screwing it up.

x2

If it's jumping teeth I can almost guarantee the belt is not being tensioned properly. If you didn't do it when you put the swap in, make sure to replace the t-belt and the auto tensioner (or switch to the manual tensioner if you're going to be doing valvetrain upgrades in the future). The belt should be extremely difficult to even get on the cam gears if everything is in place correctly.

Don't give up on your car yet, this could be a relatively easy fix and the H22 is a great powerplant in a light chassis like that (I used to have a B16 del sol and loved it).
