So i just bought a 2oo2 honda civic lx 5 speed 1.7 sohc nothins special... and the car ran great for a couple weeks.. until one day i decided to see how fast she would go and this is when the problems started. i took it up to 116 and the computer shut it down.. so i got to my buddies house shut her off everything was fine went inside and came back out and seen a small amount of smoke comin from under the hood.... so i opened it up seen the overflow hose popped off so ok no biggie a hoseclamp later i was good.. topped her off and called it good.. i started it and was talkin to my buddy while she idled in the drive... i looked down and seen the temp was 3/4 up the gauge.. not good.. so i shut it off.. waited awhile popped the cap sprayed a lil fluid started it up again and proceeded to continue to fillit as it sucked the coolant down.. as it sat and idled i noticed the fans werent kickin on..so we waited and then the temp started to creep up then the fans turned on..ok alls well...later that night we made a midnight run to mcdonalds all was good.. got to mcdonalds and it started to get hot again in the drive through.. waited awhile started it back up and got on the interstate the temp immediately dropped.. so made it home alright and decided the next day to change thermostat and flush system .. did it and all was good for a couple days then the overflow hose popped off again.. now im like wtf.. so i proceeded to take the entire hose off and low and behold the entire hose was plugged solid with what looks like stop leak but nowhere else in the system have i found it.... so i replaced it topped it off again adn took it to a buddies house we did a coolant system pressure check and it failed..it lost pressure... but we could not find the source of the leak.. but heres the weird part.. that day i put 300 miles on the car and alot was stop and go never got hot once but the next day on way to work i was almost to work it lost all heat and started to get warm again.. so wen i left work i checked the coolant level was fine?? now the car has spiratic days of overheating? somedays its fine somedays u can not stop or itll get warm..in town the car gets warm has no heat on the open road stays cool and has heat.. but thats only on certain days? im totally lost cant find out wtf is going on... i have sat and watched and smelled the exhaust..no antifreeze.. no leaks at night.. today the car started to get warm i got pisssed off and walked out puled cap off quickly in the walmart parkin lot and shot a geyser of antifreeze prolly 15 feet in the air.. but then waited to cool off started it up and refilled it till the flow started and all was topped off..didnt get hot all day today even sat and watched it idle for an hour...fans kick on for 5 seconds then kick off but they only do it every 10 minutes?? wtf is going on with this thing? anybody have any ideas?? i have a new headgasket waterpump and and new intake gasket on order...anyone got anyideas before i tear this thing apart?
