Bseries motor in a EK hatch
I am planning to swap a B16 or B18 to a 97 EK CX hatch.
what wire harness do I used?
and if I want to swap a JDM motor what kind of wire harness should I used and where to get it.

use your stock harness and just extend the plugs where it's needed. also, some sensors will have 3 wires while your stock harness will have 2, match the colors on the plug and leave the third wire dormant(tape it up). good luck
Search this forum, there was a TON of really good info recently.
yea man....I did that same swap. I used mt stock cx wiring harness and all the plugs plugged in fine. I had to extend the wires on the second o2 sensorand just ran the vtec wires separately, but then taped them into the harness. One thing, that screwed me up....label the o2 sensors....I kept throwing an emissions ineffiecient code, and then I realized i had them plugged in backwards and it worked fine ever since....even passed emissions.

the car I just pick up is a 97 EK hatch CX.
I don't have AC and ABS..
all I want is to swap the JDM B18C5, I have 10000 canadian dollars for the swaping fun.
I am looking for the motor online. so I want to get all the stuff set before I pull my D motor out.
so if I used EX harness I will have plug and play style swap?
anything else I should know before I pull the motor?

96-98 Civic EX harness is what you need if you are swapping in a B16
If you are swapping in a B18, you CANNOT use a civic harness because the ECU plugs won't fit into an Integra ECU. So..
For a GSR swap: usdm GSR engine harness.
For a Type R swap: usdm Type R engine harness.
The GSR and Type R engine harness's are TWO parts. (engine to plugs, and plugs to ECU). You will need the "plugs to ECU" part because that's the part which connects the engine harness to the ECU.
THAT IS THE ANSWER.

This post is complete bullsh!t. No matter what b series engine...for a clean swap the ex harness is th eone to use. A integra harness is not going to work in a 96 and up civic. They are completely different designs. The two part harness you are talking about is not found in any obd2 civic....only in 92-95 civics. Any obd2 integra ecu will perfectly plug into a 96-98 civic ex harness.

I don't want to play around with the wires, I want a clean swap.
if you don't want to play around with wires, then just bring it to a reputable shop. but when you have problems you may not be able to fix it yourself. its your choice.

I just want to knwo what they are doing..
I just don't want to pay .. and know nothing.
I've been thinking about it for a long time now..
That was the most messed up post I've ever given lol
I have been confused somewhere along the line.
All I want to know is if you tell this guy he can use a EX harness with a B18, what ECU do you expect him to use? From what I understand, the CIVIC ecu and the INTEGRA ecu both use different harness plugs. So how can the EX harness plugs magically fit into an Integra ECU?
And about the two part harness, I never said anything about it being in a civic did I? I mentioned that the Type R and the GSR harness's have two parts if he were to use that with a B18. Now I realize he couldnt use that because the civic interior harness plug/s won't match up with the Integra's ECU.
Tell me more... is the EX engine harness plugs the same as the ITR or GSR's engine harness plugs?

so 96 to 98 uses ex harness from 96 to 98
if you got 99 + uses ex harness from 99 +
but I am not sure...
OBD2 IS OBD2....be it civic, integra, accord...any obd2 ECU will plug up to any OBD2 harness....you can take any 96-98 Ecu from an integra and it will plug up to a 96-98 civic harness....I'll bet you my car on it. ANd about the engine plugs...yes they are all the same sensors...you think honda is going to waste money mass producing the same sensor....with different plugs...in the civic EX harness they only plug thats different is the EVAP sensor plug. The dx and x harness do on the other hand have different plugs for like 2 sensors one of them being the one on the oil pump.

I would just like to add...
There is NO HARNESS ON EARTH that you can use for a b series swap into your 96-98 civic that wont need to be modified in some way.
Short answer is this.
96-98EX Harness - Will work with any 96-98 Integ/Civic ECU - You will have to modify (change plugs and lengthen shorten) a few or a lot of plugs depending on the motor you are putting in.
And I modified the **** out of mine. Just to keep a stock appearance. All you need is a soldering iron, heat shrink, wire loom and QUALITY electrical tape. I changed a few plugs and lengthened shortened almost ALL of them to fit my C5 correctly.
It isn't hard to do. My car fired up on the first try. I think my 2000 ITR ECU is messed up (refuses to play codes, but check engine light is on), but with a 96 JDM ITR ECU...... no codes at all after 100 miles.

this is funny..let the newbs go on and on till their fingers get tired of typing..haha..
yea man I agree completely. I used my stock cx harness on my b16 swap and had ot lengthen and shorten several different plugs. I did it myself cause I wanted it done right and I wanted it to look clean. I have actually had Honda service people look at my car and say that it looked like a factory job. The car throws no codes, has passed emissions and gets hella good mileage...all the while running 15.2 in the quarter and getting me around the auto-x course.

That's right make fun of the newbs..
I hate when people read **** over the net think that 100% of the information is correct.
Especially about the whole EX harness thing. Sure it plugs right up

This feels retarded being on this trial thing. I don't consider myself a noob to this stuff.
But I don't see how the EX's ECU plugs will fit into any Integras ECU both being the same year.
Take a 99 EX harness, and try to plug it into a 99 GSR ECU. IS IT GOING TO FIT? The ******* plugs aren't made for an Integra's ECU. Correct me one more time and I will shut up.
That's pissing me off and I want to know.
