Default b16 exhaust question

ok so i have a crx with a jdm b16 obd0. i have a megan 4-1 header, aim intake, and what was a 2 1/4 piping with stock cat exhaust. well that thing finally rusted off.. it was on the car when i bought it. my question is.
sense i put a header on i was thinking about running a straight pipe to open it up a little bit more. i have no emissions where i live. i was thinking of this.
2" piping/ straight piped with a nice canister. just wanted everyones opinions on that or what size of piping i should go with.
thanks everyone.

You don't need back pressure. Search the All-Motor forum. Everyone makes more power with less back pressure.

i have the same engine as you and i had vibrant header with 3inch straight pipe, blown glass pack, and elbow. made some power, then i put a flowmaster muffler on and made even more... just because it sounds cool doesnt mean u got more power nessesery

It has nothing to do with sound. Hell, I wish mine was more quiet. Simply put, an engine that has been tuned with a 3" exhaust will make more power than it would when it was tuned with a 2.5" exhaust.

I have 2.25 piping from the catback and a Dynomax muffler(muffler is poo)Switching in a apexi one as soon as funds allow it. I'd said go 2.25 or 2.50 inch.

I would go with 2.25" piping. Add a resonator 10-18" long, and a nice muffler. The resonator will deepen the exhaust tone and eliminate the raspy bumble bee sound.

As for the 3" exhaust on a stock B16, You might make more *peak* power but you will sacrifice all your low end and midrange power and driveability. For a track-only car this may be okay, but for a daily driver it just isn't worth it.
