Icon2 wiresets... preformance vs replacment

ok so my friend who has a b18b1 (i believe i know its a b18) needs new spark plug wires he was wondering what the difference between say the duralast or bosch "replacements" as compared to the MSD or accel "preformance" sets are... do they add hp? i know the preformance will give better spark but are there other benifits? thanks and sorrt for the long post

Of brand-name plug wires that work properly, the main difference in quality is how long the terminals at the ends last. Every time you disconnect a wire, the terminals that either squeeze inward on the plug end or outward on the distributor end start to become bent in the opposite direction. Eventually, they will stop making a good connection. The terminals also wear out from tugging on the wire to disconnect it, mostly on the plug side. Every time you pull a plug wire free of its plug, it strains the crimped connection of the terminal to the wire and done enough times it will eventually break. NGK wires are the best in many people's opinion and can be purchased at summit. Anyone who has tried them will agree that they are top-notch and well worth the price. I'm only talking about decent or better wires by the way. There are crappy brands out there whose wires sometimes don't work at all.

IMO, Duralast wires are about average quality and Bosch ones are good quality. For comparison, I'd call OEM Honda wires very good quality- a step above the Bosch. Autozone's generic Valucraft brand has below average quality wires and the NGK's I'd call excellent.

When it comes to wires, Genuine Honda wires are the best, IMO. I have tried the brands from Advance and Autozone, but like was said before, the ends will wear out and sometimes when you pull the wire off the plug, the metal piece would come out and stay on the plug. This is a serious pita. OEM wires have never done this to me. Besides, unless you are making some obscene power, those 'performance' wires aren't really gong to do a thing for you besides look pretty if they are a different color.
