i'm looking into lightweight flywheels
How low can I go
I want the bisimoto 9.7 lb one but
F! racing makes an 8.5 lb on for less money too
What do I do?

Whatever you get, make sure you get one that has a replaceable friction surface.
I didn't look at the two you listed to see if they had it.
Fidanza does offer this feature.
Comes in really handy after you can't resurfacing it anymore ... better for the pocketbook than buying a whole new flywheel.
Also nice to have if your clutch ever blows up or tosses a spring and destroys the friction surface.

I noticed a vibration at around 4k rpm with the F1.

I got the ACT flywheel and it is straight and true no Vibrations.

I much more beneficial could a 8.5lb flywheel be from a 12lb? Anyone have improved time slips with 12lb flywheel then with 8.5lb? Better gas mileage maybe? What else? Trying to justify the cost.

not that much differnce! the only thing with and f1 chromolly 1pcs and is not balanced thats why you get vibration! and the act is aluminum with removable friction plate! balanced! and the bisi moto flywheels is just light! on when ur going from 8.5lbs to 12lbs big deal the lighter the faster the rpms gose up with time and all ist just a few mila-secs

in other words your just buying a name!

wwll It's between my exedy and the bisimoto flywheel
exedy 10.8 lbs
bisimoto 9.7 lbs
I will also be running a shaved crank pulley
My real concern is drivability vs any real gains. a light crank pulley and flywheel, is that too much?
I heard too light flywheels cause shuddering?

Well stay away from the ebay aluminum pulley because it will virate and terminate your oil pump. Same seems to go for the CTR pulley.
I run a gsr pulley with the acc ribs shaved off along with my 12lb act flywheel.

I am happy.

Oh yea, that's ewhat I meant. I have a shaved civic pulley not a light weight pulley
I guess I want to know if the bisimoto flywheel will hold up.
Doesn't he use it in his 700 hp wagon?

Correct. We use the lightweight flywheel on the 700hp wagon and even our daily wagons. This is also the same flywheel that was on the legendary Bisimoto CRX. Also, the friction plate is replaceable should the need arise

Is there a certain type/brand clutch you prefer with the lightened flywheel?

I was thinking he might have tested various weights and found the heavier one to be more reliable or have more power or torque

We recommend using the Action Clutch line of clutches. Either the 1MS or 2MS depending on your application. We can also provide you with one of this clutch kits as well

On F1 and fidanzas website. It says in their fAQ that they should be balanced before install
I call Bisimoto tech and The guy told me theirs are already balanced

You left out a lot of what Fidanza says on their site.
The recommend that you balance flywheel with your clutch pressure plate.
You should consider doing this with any flywheel you buy... doesn't matter if they balanced the flywheel by itself or not.
It's always good to balance assemblies - just like wheels, it would be really stupid to balance the rim with no tire.
