Default Trans sometimes doesnt engage/disengage when driving. clutch?

i just got this problem with my 98 accord. it sometimes feels like the clutch is not engaging and disengaging correctly. i dont see any leaks from the slave and master and the pedal doesnt lose pressure and the clutch doesnt slip. but it does sound like metal on metal when it doesnt engage or disengage correctly. do i need a new clutch?

Just because you don't see any leaks doesn't mean there isn't one. The master cylinder will typically leak along the push rod through the firewall and end up in the carpet padding, not externally in the engine compartment. Is the resevoir full? How many miles on the clutch? Sounds like metal on metal while engaging/disengaging, or only while trying to shift?

the resevoir is inbetween high and low and clutch has 120k . i didnt see any leaks inside by the carpet either. the metal on metal is when i release the clutch half way

If you hear metal on metal when the clutch is engaging, then it sounds like maybe you're through the friction material, and yes, it is time for a new clutch.

you could have some broken "fingers" on the pressure, or a broken bolt on the clutch itself. I bought one of those center force packages only to find out that was exactly the problem. installed them on the car anyway. that was ten years ago, still works like new.

What does it feel like when you say it's not engaging/disengaging correctly? Does it make nay noises or is it just a pedal feeling? If it's a pedal feeling, you'd be better off having a mechanic drive it.
