My 91 1.5L civic is hard to start when the engine is warm. I checked the fuel pressure today and it is 41psi when you turn the key to position 2 (start position). You hear the fuel pump turn on and then back off as you should. The engine will just crank and then eventually start. When the engine is running, the fuel PSI is 35 to 36PSI with the vacuum hose attached to the fuel pressure regulator and 41-42 psi with the vacuum hose removed. Once started, the car runs smooth and normal for as long as you drive it. Once the car cools down, it starts on 2 cranks. Any ideas what is wrong??????
My 89 Civic is doing a similar thing, except the fuel pump does not turn on when I first turn the key to "ON'. It only happens on a hot restart, and always starts if I let it sit for about 2-3 minutes. Always starts right up when cold.
Has anyone experienced this? Please let me know, all information will be greatly appreciated.

MY problem turned out to be the igniter in the distributer. Go figure. Extremely poor design from Honda. The wierd thing was that the car did not stall when hot. Your problem is the main relay. Do you hear the relay pull in when you turn the key to the start position (without cranking). You should hear both the click and the fuel pump.
