Hello the motor is a Jdm h22a. & I was wondering what piston rings I'm supposed to be using on this motor/ block. The reason I ask is because I was told that my motor may need special rings due to the coding on the sleeves. How do I know if I have this special coding on my sleeve. I'm not sure what year the motor is... I was told to use mahle piston rings, if my sleeves do have that special coding on them. but I would like to know your guises input before I do some type of error. Thanks [=
Yes, the cylinder walls are FRM, which require particular components unless the motor has been sleeved. Just get the Honda rings. I'm assuming you're on stock pistons or the Mahle's.

I actually made this thread for a friend, but i think that he wants to go with the mahles pistons, for the reason that they are cheaper and he can get the set for $65 bucks compared to the honda rings which are $52 bucks each X4, would end up to $240 with taxes. He's on stock pistons and according to him he's hear good things about mahles piston rings or do you guys think he should just go for OEM rings. Btw is their any specific reason why some of these motors came with that special coding?
All of the h22's are FRM (fiber reinforced metal) its not just a coating, the sleeves are different than a normal car, and require different handling because of this.
i'm rocking nippon rings. Just don't lose the thin pin that goes half way around the ring. It holds the ring ends together. $30 on ebay. They are the exact same rings that weisco uses, just a different name.
