92 hatch alternator problems
ok so heres the problem. i have a voltage gauge installed in my car, and when i start it, it will run at 14 volts.
when im driving if i watch, after a while of driving, the voltage will randomly drop to 12 volts, but the battery light on the dash does not come on. i have checked it with a multimeter and it was 12.63 volts when it drops.
i have replaced the alternator already and the same problem exists.
and when the volts drop, if i turn my lights on and off, or turn the blower motor on, (basically anything that takes enough amps) it will trigger the alternator and will run back to 14 volts.
anyone know whats wrong with my car? it wasnt doing this a few weeks ago.

get a new relay for it.
are all the alt wires good?..are you sure?
check for frays or cuts.
do you have a system or anything like a trainhorn/3gl air compressor in the trunk? (like me)

i have a 600 watt amp powering 4 6-1/2"s and a 15" sub in the hatch. but this problem will happen whether the system is on or off, doesnt matter.
its still sucking power. undo the power cable for the system from the battery and test that out. although things are turned off they still reciever power
ok ill try that later. does anyone here happen to have a wiring diagram for the charging system.
if for some reason my wires are starting to go bad, i have another engine harness from my other 93 civic i sold that i can use.

It's normal. It's supposed to do this. Depending on what is going on (ELD, AC running or not, etc.) the system is supposed to either run at 12 or 14 v.
