vacuum line Q?
there is a vacuum line that goes from the intake pipe to what i think is the thermostat and that looks to go off into the intake manifold as well... i broke the piece that comes off the thermostat.. i was wondering what will happen if i just plug the hole going into the thermostat and the one that comes off the intake pipe.. with the car running i did this and it just kicked the idle down a very small amount.. so instead of replacing the whole thermostat for something so minor, could i just plug the hole.?
wtf? Vacuum line off of the thermostat going into the intake pipe??
You better take pictures of what you're talking about... I'm tired but you sound confused or maybe I'm just miss reading but I don't know of any vacuum line off of the thermostat... you don't want any vacuum (air) in the cooling system lol

the red line is representin the peice that broke off.. a hose runs from over that red line to the intake pipe.. it sucks air in to whatever that is. im not sure what any of that is for.. if i left it open it would suck unfiltered air into there, if i plug it no air will go in there, if its hooked up properly it would suck clean air from the air intake.

what about people who make their engine bay look clean like this..? i think plugging it wont hurt anything the more i look.. i would still like to know for sure what its for..? and that is the thermostat right? could it be just for when the engine is cold maybe? like a choke of some sort.?
thanks a ton, ive got something to cap it off with.. do i need to cap off where the line goes into the intake manifold as well.? and correct me if im wrong but i think that piece comes out of the thermostat.. i went to the dealer to buy a new piece and i would have to buy the whole assembly..i guess it may not actully have anything to do with the thermostat but just threads into the housing..? thanks again.

Thermostat is connected to the water pump on the bottom front of the block. It pushes coolant up to that little housing bolted to the head where that valve is. But I wouldn't call it any part of the thermostat. And the dealership is the worst place to ask for parts like that cause they'll charge you an arm and a leg and sell you other parts "assemblies" you don't need.
Yes cap off the intake manifold nipple

oh i see. thanks a ton. i just go to the dealership cause they have those parts diagrams they pull up and then i point out what parts i neeed..i dont always know the names of the parts so it makes it easier in that aspect. i know its rape price to go to the dealership but for some reason im always fixing my hatch with those pricey oem honda parts.. i kinda know the parts guy too so that helps, except with the pricing.. lol
thanks again!
