want to swap D15B2 to D16A6. need info.
if i do a full motor swap (head, block, mpfi, etc.) do i need to include tranny and axles with the swap?
i know i'll probably need the ecu and harnesses.
i have a 1990 civic hatch std. w/ 4 speed tranny.
i would like to get a D16A6 out of an EF si.
it shouldn't be that hard of a swap, what do you guys think?
thanks.

Best advice is do a search for the info before posting to avoid getting shot down in flames.
Anyway, your chassis harness will not run MPFI so you will have to convert it,you cant just plug in the si harness.
You dont need to use the tranny and axels but it would give you a 5spd and I think you might have to change your front knuckles/hubs as iirc the STD is smaller than the Si.
You will for sure need the ECU.
It is not a hard swap to do at all.

i would like a 5 speed, but i was just thinking about money, and if i could just get the a6 block and head first, could i run it bolted up to the 4 speed tranny until i found a reasonably priced tranny.
also i know this is dumb, but what if i didn't hook up the mpfi. can i run the a6 with dpfi?
and if that was possible could i use my stock harness and ecu?
with that being said, can you run dpfi on a d16a1 w/ dohc?
maybe im just being lazy, but i want to plug and play with the least headaches. this is my daily driver and im poor. starting to look like i shold just put another d15 in.

Yes you can run a DPFI setup on a D16A6, no you can't bolt on the DPFI manifold on a D16A1 head, and you can run a 4spd tranny on a D16A6 until you get a 5spd.
The motor is a straight one to one swap, just take out your B2 and swap in the A6. If you do keep it DPFI then bolt up your old manifold and go. If you swap to MPFI then follow the conversion instructions found in the FAQ.
You do not need to swap hubs/knuckles UNLESS you want to use DX/Si axles. Regardless of trim level, all the 88-91 civic axles have the same spline on the tranny side. You do not choose axles based on your tranny, you choose them according to which hub/knuckle you have (assuming that you are running a D-series tranny). Civic STD(4spd) and CRX HF share the same spline count (23) on the hub side, all other trim levels of Civic/CRX have the bigger spline count (24). If what I just stated is confusing then this is all you need to know: You can reuse your old axles whether it's a 4spd or 5spd tranny in your car as long as it's a old D-series tranny.

that is perfect straight forward answers. thanks man.
i will find an D16a6 and swap it out while still using my dpfi and d-series 4 spd tranny.
awesome. at least i'll be on my way to a slow build up.
will i see any hp difference by switching to the a6 but still keeping it dpfi?

related question - I tried the search but couln't find a definite answer. If you swap a D16A6 into a standard EF with DPFI and you use the Si engine harness, is there a disadvantage? I read on one thread that if you want to do an MPFI conversion it is easier to just add the 6 wires to your std harness. Can anyone clear this up? If anyone has a suggestion for a writeup on this I would appreciate it. Like I said, I tried looking but no luck finding a def answer.
