question about roll bar
so i know the crx and civic hatch are a bit different size wise, but i was wondering if i could take a roll bar from a crx and put it in my civic hatch while still being safe. im not sure if the roof height is different and i just want it to be safe, so lmk guys!

I used one from a CRX and had to lengthen the rear bars where it bolts in the back, this was more a harness bar but its still my experience.
well i have a seat that requires a harness bar of some sort and i would rather just have the roll bar with harness bar welded on rather than just welding in or fabbing up a harness bar

a guy from back "home" got in an accident and smashed his face up real bad. basically it would make an accident worse than it already is. at least, thats my reasoning for it being a bad idea. That being said, I still would put one in my car if i was doing auto cross
ya true but if you got the cage only in the rear of the car and your seats have harnesses that are harnessed to a harness bar that is part of the roll cage even if you arent "rolling" the car it SHOULD still keep you safer at least thats how the op is talking about setting it up so i dont see it being a bad thing.
im not interested it putting a full cage in. if anything i want to put a roll bar w/ harness bar in. just the rear section so my head wouldnt be hitting anything
In answer to your original question: No. If you check the part numbers for an Autopower bolt in cage in the link below you will see that Civics & CRXs have different part numbers for the same year. That tells me that there are significant differences in the bars enough to warrant designing two different bars for two different applications.

Now to the rest of the thread: Other than making your rear seat unusable by anyone bigger than a hamster, a Bar (or a cage) will not make your car unsafe to drive. If you are installing a full set of racing harnesses you will QUICKLY come to the realization that 1.) They are a pain to put on and take off and 2.) You can not reach to turn up the radio or roll down the window, if they are being properly worn.
There is a tale that says you should not wear a full harness if your car does not have a cage or bar because the harness prevents you from leaning over in the case of a roll over. If you have the presence of mind to lean in toward the center of the car while it is rolling you are a much better man than I am.
Good luck.
