question on which struts to buy
i have 98 coupe and i lowered it with adjustable spring...0-4 inch drop i have it at 2 inches..anyway i already blew my front two struts and im pretty sure the back ones are goin soon...i was wondering what kinda of struts to get im kinda on a tight budget some where around 250 to 350 for four of them...thanx
Tokico blues are intended to be a stock replacement strut, so it is too soft for the type of coil-overs that you have on your car. All they will do is bounce because the rates on most coil-overs are too stiff anf the struts cannot properly control such heavy springs.
Get the KYB/AGX 4-way adjustable struts.
I've owned a set on my old 1992 Si hatch and I loved them. They are cheap as hell and very durable. I had them in conjunction with Skunk2 coil-overs and I drove the car daily and even auto-X'd it as well. The struts rode great and handled good too.
I had to get rid of them with the car (long story) so on my 1992 CX hatch I run Koni Yellows. More expensive, but better than any other strut I've ridden on (including Tokico 5-way adjustable Illuminas) and they can handle even stiffer rates than most other struts.
Get the KYB/AGX - you won't regret the purchase.
