it's Header,You only have one on a 4 cylinder.The designs are called 4-1 and 4-2-1 .Read up on differences between 4-2-1 header and a 4-1,best of luck,Matt

I really wouldn't worry about it to much. I mean the ZC engine doesn't look to far from stock. My hood got popped today with my ZC engine and the cop didn't even say anything about an illegal swap or anything.

From my understanding, 4-2-1 is good mid range with some high while 4-1 is mostly all high end power.

I believe the 4-1 have the o2 sensor down where the 96-00 d-series have them past the oil pan. The two piece 4-2-1 have them in the stock location, and since the o2 sensor in ef's aren't heated I feel the two piece 4-2-1 will run better.

He has a dohc, your sohc is perfectly fine because its a replacement engine. The dohc is not, but could be pulled off as a d16a1 I believe.

obviously judging by your sig why would he tell you anything if you had a zc sohc since its a replacement motor...were talking about a zc dohc here which looks nothing like stock

the 4-2-1 header for the Z6 is 1 piece. and it works on the DOHC ZC fine. and A6. O2 bung is near the cat, but its not a problem. the stock 02 sensor plug can reach around just fine.

the 4-2-1 header for the A6 is 2 pieces.

i think the 1 piece flows better because the runners come out a bit more and is unbroken by the lack of a flange since its 1 piece.

the OP never mentioned a 4-1 header...

and grammatically, your original questions is fine. he's talking about more than 1 header... and regardless its a stupid thing to point out, as stupid as my pointing out his grammar.

4-1 header is better for power. To save yourself the trouble just go with 4-2-1. Its better for a daily driver anyway.

Well if you can weld just take a dremel cut the 4 tacks of the carb plate an weld it to 4-1 header. Ceramic coat does grind off then Paint with 2000 deg paint good to go.

its all good, I have a DOHC zc, just haven't updated my sig.

I have the ZC 4-2-1 header, and I like it, I felt a little bit of the gain over my stock manifold.

I would also suggest having your header matched up to a dohc zc (d16a1) gasket being the exhaust ports are a little different than stock d series.
