I want to add another gauge to my plx m-300 box and was wondering if this was possible? Currently the only place I can fit the wideband controller is in my glove box. I would like to add another traditional style 52mm gauge to my pillar, and have it also run off the plx controller. Would getting any 0-5v gauge work? Input/output?

 

need to know this as well. I would think you could just split the 0-5v between the ecu and the gauge and it shouldnt mess anything up. not sure though

 

The way I did it was by using the PLX WB to narrow band adapter box (I think about $35), and then hooked it up to an Autometer narrow band gauge. The PLX adapter box turns the Autometer gauge into a wideband gauge for your PLX M300. Then you just hook up the narrow band ouput wire form the PLX into the adapter, and then the output form the adapter to the Autometer gauge.

It becomes an honest to goodness wideband display. I have mine set up so that the 12.0:1 is at 12 o'clock so I can quickly glance at the gauge and know what my mixture is.

Doesn't look like the adapter box is on the PLX website anymore. Maybe just call them to see if they still have them available.

 

If he doesn't have the AUtocheater gauge, it becomes more expensive than a PLX gauge ($79).

I think the new PLX's have programmable outputs. You program one output to whatever the gauge displays and you're golden. For example, my Techedge has a preset for a narrowband output, so a narrowband gauge will display the full 9:1 to ~17:1 that is useful for me. I could also set it to a linear output to use any 0-5v or 0-1v linear gauge or anything in-between.

One thing I did was build a little LED driver that uses the 0-5v output to light up 20 smd LED's I put on a bar. It's in the lower crack between my dash and cluster. Too much work for a regular person though.

 

So would any 0-5v gauge work?
