oil leak...have no idea where from
I have 93 lude si auto with an oil leak around the inspection plate that drips only when the car runs. i recently just put a new h23 in and replace all the gaskets but still have a leak somehow. i pulled the trans after i had it all back to gether to make sure the crank seal was all the way in and it still leaks around the inspection plate. i alsod replace the oil pan and gasket thought it was leakin from the round part on the oil pan but still leaks anyone have an idea what it may be or should i buy a new crank gasket again and change it or what please help need to fix it to sell it. thanks
it is where the trans connects to the engine and the plate is at the bottom of the trans if you take it off you can see the bottom quarter part of the flywheel when i start it it starts drippin from the trans by the flywheel
you may have a hair-line crack on the transmission housing, clean and inspect it closely. I would also check around the transmission when you're under the car to see if there are any oily wet spots anywhere else.
I have the same problem. I gotta take off that plate as well. I think mine might be the rear seal, but Im not sure, there is grease and oil all over the bottom of the engine and tranny.
It could be leaking from the distributor o ring. Or possibly something up higher and leaking down. I would get a pressure washer or engine cleaner and clean the hell out of it. that way you can see where its coming from.
