Washer fluid sensor (96-2000 canadian civic)
Recently my washer fluid sensor light would not shut off after filling the fluid. Here is how to remove the sensor to check if it needs replacing, or if it is just stuck.(It is just a float sensor).
1. Remove the drivers side fender liner
2. The senor is on the bottom of the fluid resevoir and just pulls out. (Have a pail ready because all of the fluid is going to drain out of the hole.
3. If you have a multi meter you can check for continuity. When the float is up there should be no continuity and when the float is down, there should. If you get continuity when the float is up, the sensor is garbage.
If you have no meter, get someone to look at the indicator light while you move the float up and down.
4. To put it back in you will have to remove the rubber grommet that is around the float assembly and put that in first, then just pop in the float assembly.
