Default Sometimes you have to bring an ITR back from the dead

It was a few years ago that I caught wind of a stripped, clean title, 98 CW ITR living on bricks in some guy's backyard. He wanted $250, but there was a catch.. Over a drunken weekend the owner and his friends sawed out the firewall and jigsaw puzzled in a perfectly crooked RHD firewall. They would never figure out the wiring or fire up the motor again. Everyone who saw it puked. They thought it was good as dead but not me. This was about the time when all I did was watch the Discovery channel.

If you can get anything that's going to make you happy in life and for cheap it's going to be on EBAY...CW front end, Buy Now.

1 1/2 Type Rs..might as well...what else are you going to do, waste 20 grand on a show room car you're going to drive through the thick and thin?

New front end welded and painted, now it's time for brakes, lines, fuel tank, dash, everything else...Fack!! Took a month, on and off, but I can read a manual. It's like Honda knows your going to take their cars apart and put them back together. I don't need all these extra bolts!

She was a mutant underneath, but outside she was the prom queen. Just look at that aft. She get it from her momma.

Yeah, it's pretty overated, but hey at least I didn't buy a stock car, slap wheels on it, and call it built, No, this one required heart and *****.

DFW Type R meet. ITR 1 - World 0.

No, i'm not paying premium for some ITR door panels when these black ones I found in my garage work just fine, but I will borrow some seats.

Why not spoil her and get rid of the 4x114 and throw on some new brakes and some little wings to fly.

Not bad for jdm scratches and 40k. Yes, officer, the steering wheel is on the wrong side, no i'm not a circus freak.

We had our fun and now it was time for someone else to molest her. Just thought I would share.

Thanks to Eddie for welding, Richie for the 30 minute motor swap, Skunkcoupe for the hand job, and the guy who got drunk and fVcked up his Type R and sold it to me for $250.

Get up, get out, and get something.

Very nice. I love to see them come back from the dead. Especially one in CW.

I have experienced those drunken nights/ late nights where you decide to get a project done. They don't usually turn out well. Nice rebuild looks great.

Yeah, I wasn't drunk, rather it was the previous owner that got brewed and hacked up his Type R. I only recovered it and finished the thought. He was a nice guy though. The project just got way over his head. Luckily my head is always in the clouds.

It looks nice but it's always going to be an ITR that was sawed in half and welded back together. I know a guy locally that did something like this. The car ended up breaking in half again.

I always had that thought in the back of my mind, but the body guy who did the work has over 40 yrs experience. Regardless, I no longer own the car, and I never tracked it. It has a k series in it now and if it ever falls apart I will let you guys know. The only reason I frankenstein'd it back together was beause of the low cost and to keep myself busy. It was fun, but rhd was not
my thing, too weird and too much Japanese rust.
