Question about if my engine is the original or not?
Hello there,
Can you please advise me how I can find out if my engine in my 90 accord coupe EX is the originally engine or not. I have located and will provide below all info vin# is Honda Vin # 1HGCB7269LA018336
Engine Code A98300359
F22A4
1201058
With all this info there must be a way for me to tell if this is the original engine. I would think there is a website out there where you can locate with the above info if this is the original engine that came with the car from the factory. Please advise me thanks very much for your help as I am new at this.

Without the VIN stamp on the motor I'm doubting the ability to check if it's the original or not - what is making you think it's not? or what's concerning you it isn't?
Hello what is making me ? this is there was strange color grease pencil writing on some parts underneath the car. This usually means that the parts or the motor came from a junk yard.
I did give you all the info that is stamped/engraved on the motor. It does not have or come with the vin on the motor instead they put a engine code on there. Now my dilemma is finding out how to match up the engine code to the vin # that is on the car. There must be a way/website to see how these 2 #'s match up to tell if they came with each other. If you can ask or know anyone that might be able to help out in this matter I would appreciate it much.

I realize you gave all the information on the motor, starting on ODBII motors they put a VIN plate on the motor and transmission allowing you to match the two together. With OBDI I have never found a method to track the motor/chassis. You are probably SOL with that.
If it's running fine I wouldn't take much concern with it - you could drop it off for a full inspection and cleaning to see if anything stands out.
And I know exactly what you mean in regards to the grease pens - it *could just be something like a junkyard block that was replaced. The motor is the one meant for that vehicle.

you have a 1990 CB7 accord EX. EX trim comes with the F22A4 motor. CB7 accord range is 90-93. using the code "1201058" the first digit tells you the year of the motor. 1=90. 2=91. 3=92. 4=93. It's the same thing with the 94-97 accords. 1=94. 2=95 ect.
Thanks very much now I think I understand. I did not know it was that easy thanks again.
