Default EJ8 Speaker Wiring Issue?

Anyone ever had this issue. I have a 2000 EX, i just purchased 4 brand new speakers and a Deck. Deck went in great tested it on stock speakers, it sounded grade A!

I move on to doing the front door speakers. (JW, do EX's come stock with tweaters mounted in the top corners between the window and door (not in door) above the door sill cuz mine has em?) but anyway.... i am doing the front right speaker and i unclip it.

now what i shouldnt have done is this. I cut the clip off, before knowing i should have bought a harness.

Although when i cut the clip off i noticed that there were 4 wires going into the clip instead of 2 like just 1 posotive and 1 negative. for some reason there were 4, 2 pairs of wires one was brown with a black stripe the other red with a green stripe.

Now i try to wire up the new speakers i was dumb founded so i called around bout some harness....problem solved...no

well i then recrimped up the stock wire clips to the wires were i cut them, i tested OEM speakers they WORK!!!

so i now use that setup plug in the NEW wire harness to what i just re crimped, plug it into my new speaker...NOTHING....im lost i have been at it for over 5 hours (including deck installation) im lost

any input?

I tried both speakers both harness both sides

Default Re: EJ8 Speaker Wiring Issue?

The tweeters speaker leads are "daisy chained" off the mid-range speaker plug, that is why there is 4 speaker wires, the 2nd set run to the tweeter.

Have you tried playing the system with the new speaker plugged into the wiring but not mounted, a common problem when mounting some speakers into Honda/Acura is the speaker terminals or the tinsel leads running from the speaker terminals to the VC will short out to the doors sheet metal, putting HU into protection mode, [turning off the outputs] so no sound. 94
